Morgan Wade Hometown: Tyler, TX “Go fast, go big.” What do you write about Morgan that hasn’t already been written 100 times over? This guy has been down with SNAFU for 4 years now and he never ceases to amaze anyone of us daily. I was going to sit here and try and write something worthy of who he is on and off his bike and then I came across this paragraph written by good friend & mentor Walter Pieringer who pretty much nailed it. “Morgan has come a long, long way since his first video appearance in 1998. Over the years, he's transformed himself from a sketchy kid in a chest protector getting a clip in Road Fools 5 to a smooth, stylish shredder and one of the stars of Road Fools 14. What accounts for his success? No one can say for sure, but I'd be willing to guess that it's some combination of his genuine love for BMX, his outgoing and carefree personality, and the fact that he is simply not afraid. Whatever the case may be, I'm sure Morgan has a very bright future in keeping us all on the edges of our seats.” Morgan on myspace Morgan on VitalBMX |

Dave Mirra Hometown: Ithica, NY “To ride and be smooth while doing the hardest trick - that's my favorite part of riding.” Dave Mirra is without a doubt one of the biggest names in action sports, and one of the most decorated, with over 20 X Games medals. Originally from upstate New York, Dave transplanted himself to Greenville, NC in the mid-‘90s. Greenville has since become a BMX Mecca, thanks to Dave of course. Dubbed the Miracle boy after his recovery from a near death experience in which he was hit by a drunk driver, Dave would soon help shape what the X Games are today. Mirra’s action sports fame led him to host MTV’s “Inferno” for two seasons and cameo rolls on shows like Las Vegas. Dave has also been featured in several editions of his own video game series, “Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX.” In 2004 Dave was featured as one of People Magazine’s “50 Hottest Bachelors,” however he took himself off the market in February of 2006 when he married his lovely wife Lauren. 2006 marked a huge change for Dave as he left Haro Bikes after 11 years to start his own bike company, MirraCo, with former Haro President Jim Ford. Brad Simms Hometown: Indian Head, MD “I’ m going to shut this whole city down. I am not to be played with. I am not stopping until I get what I want. I am not stopping until I get it done!” Brad is the newest member to the SNAFU team and the perfect addition also. This Maryland native travels more throughout the year than anyone else on the team. His riding style has street written all over it and he can 180 bunny hop over anything that comes in his path. All that being said he ain’t afraid of cranking at a quarter and blasting the holy crap out of it or sizing up any rail and laying it down. Brad on myspace |

Ryan Barrett Hometown: Cary, NC “I’ve been very fortunate in my life to see as much as I've seen. BMX has been a huge part of it.” Ryan on Ryan… I was born in Pendleton, Indiana and started riding bikes in Cary, North Carolina. I now call Portland, OR home. When asked what I feel to be one of my biggest accomplishments is a tough question! Although helping to create Verde Bike Company is a big accomplishment for me in BMX. I'm proud that I have followed my heart in life; that also is a big accomplishment to me. Bicycles have to be the biggest influence in my life. They have put a smile on my face, taken me around the globe, and led me to my best friends. All of those things have helped shape who I am. "Keep it positive". Ryan on myspace |

Jeremiah Smith Hometown: Lebanon, OH “I don’t have a favorite spot. I just like riding everything.” The newest and youngest addition to the SNAFU BMX team is Ohio’s own Jeremiah Smith. Jeremiah is one of the most progressive true street riders in the sport today but since moving to Woodward East earlier this year and riding with guys like Bestwick, Kagy, and Neapolitan you might expect to see Jeremiah ripping it up on the park course during next years contest season. Either way we are psyched he is on the team and look forward to what he comes up with next. Jeremiah on myspace |

Matt Sparks Hometown: Detroit, MI “' have no idea what’s going on right now.” Matt joined the SNAFU BMX in late 2007. I started to write a bio up on Matt but then was sent a little blurb about what Team Young has to say about him and, well, it pretty much sums everything up “Mat Sparks is something of an oddity. He is so unbelievably scary when it comes to riding a bike it makes everyone quiver in his or her shoes. For one reason he does things that are literally impossible to about 95% of everyone out there who rides, this is usually done with his mastery of the tailwhip. Another reason is that he takes some of the worst wrecks that about 95% of everyone who even lives on the planet couldn’t take. Matt defines the phrase “takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin” |

If he isn’t riding his bike chances are you can catch him raising his son, rocking a ballad with his band Dandelion Death, innovating a bike with his company Failure Bikes, or running the backyard build off. Jake is an amazing rider who is down for pretty much anything as long as it involves being on his bike. He is a Washington local but can pretty much been found anywhere in the upper Northwest if there is something to ride. He claims to have only 5 years under his belt when it comes to riding but watching him ride would lead you to believe otherwise. Either way look for Jake to be making a name for himself on his kids bike. |

Formby Jay Hometown: Liverpool, United Kingdom “I live for BMX. It makes me know I’m alive, it fills my head, makes me happy” I'm john, or bongo (long story) I spend my life on my BMX. I live not far from Liverpool and I’m a BT engineer. Went to school in Ormskirk then did some A levels in John Rigby College near Wigan. (I'm dead clever like, so I got about 17 A-levels) I love riding my bike and learning new things, pushing myself and scaring myself. I ride BMX every second I get with the best friends I could ever want. At the moment I'm recovering from my second surgery after snapping my ACL in my left knee, but I'm allowed to begin riding soon!! I am into photography, videography and video editing. Making my own BMX videos, which I put on the Internet all over the place. While I'm off the bike I've been fishing for carp and catfish and spending my money all over the place, also getting the car I wanted since I was about 12! I got an Impreza and a Yamaha R6 motorbike. That one was a bit out of the blue, but I just felt like getting a bike so I did. I have so many really good mates. So nice one to all them for giving me so many good times out drinking, riding, driving round and any other times. |

Markus Wilke Hometown: Hamburg, Germany “I kinda like competing in Europe more than anywhere else if you’ve ever been to an event over here they always seem a bit more fun." Markus on Markus… It all began in 1974. I went to the school and discovered BMXC with my two friends Oliver and Daniel (Big Shout-Outs!!) We killed the streets and spent all our time riding everyday and formed a team so happily named Team Soultown Those were crazy times! There I learned so much about life and growing up. In 1997 I moved to the city of Cologne with the dream of doing whatever it took to be a pro BMX rider. In the year 2000 it all started to come true. It was through two big events The worlds and the X Games, at that time that I could honestly say riding became my life as I got some American sponsors and began traveling all over the world. I lived then for three years in Long Beach, CA with my friend Mike Ardelean. Those were for sure the cool times, as we had so much fun. We lived directly at the beach. Then came 2004 and I found myself moving back home to Cologne Germany. As for the future, who knows…one thing for sure though is I will be on my bike. |

Bobby Roberts Hometown: Norcal, California Frame: Fly Pantera Fact: Bobby is an original SNAFU OG Team Member . “I was born in 1984, and I spent my childhood growing up in San Jose, where ideas are plentiful. One idea was to build a ghetto launch ramp in my friend's front yard and ride our bikes off it. That event was the inception of my passion for BMX. Eventually, my friends and I discovered that there were actual ramps and trails in our home town. The Nor Cups trails were incredible, and it’s the place where I learned to ride BMX." |

SNAFU BLUE COLLAR
Kevin Spanier Hometown: Florence, KY Frame: Failure Grade 2 Frame Fact: Kevin’s nickname is Frog and most people know him by that. Frogs have very special skin! They don't just wear it, they drink and breathe through it. Frogs don't usually swallow water like we do. Instead they absorb most of the moisture they need through their skin. Not only that, but frogs also rely on getting extra oxygen (in addition to what they get from their lungs) from the water by absorbing it through their skin. Because frogs get oxygen through their skin when it's moist, they need to take care of their skin or they might suffocate. Sometimes you'll find frogs that are slimy. This is because the frog skin secretes a mucus that helps keep it moist. Even with the slimy skin, these frogs need to stay near water. Finally, in the final process of a frogs shedding process the frog pulls the skin off over it's head, like a sweater, and then (this is gross) the frog EATS IT!!!! Kevin on myspace |
