Brian Scura invented the Gyro in the ‘80s, reinvented it as the Oryg when his Odyssey contract expired in the ‘90s, and he’s been tweaking it ever since. Odyssey tried their hand at improving the detangler seven or eight years ago, but early models were stiff, heavy and expensive. Brian has never believed his spinner needed refinement, but we did, and in 2003 we decided to fix it. The SNAFU Mobeus is the realization of that effort, and a random survey of all the pros that use brakes would prove we succeeded. The Mobeus is CNC machined from two interlocking pieces of extruded 6061 T-6 aluminum. An AstroGlide bushing between the upper and lower cable rings ensures a smooth spin, and the Mobeus is designed so it will never pull apart under braking loads.

C-levers
Another oldie but goodie from the SNAFU archives brought back to life with a bit of judicious CNC work and a fresh coat of paint. We thought about introducing a CNC brake lever last year, but CNC parts are expensive, and a 60-dollar lever doesn’t work any better than the 15-dollar lever it would replace, so why bother? Our C-lever’s smart two-piece clamp is cast alloy, and bolts up to a forged and custom-shaped two-finger lever. C-Levers are available in left- and right-hand models for front and rear applications.

Astroglide Cables
AstroGlide cables feature linear-wound housings with Teflon liners and coated stainless-steel wires for super-smooth operation and rust-free durability. We offer three kinds of AstroGlide cables: Split upper and two-piece lower cables for Mobeus and Gyros, and an extra-long single cable for riders who don’t use detanglers.
